Lumbar Spondylosis or spine arthritis is a condition in which a person suffers from degeneration in cartilage, spine, muscles, lumbar vertebrae and bones in the lumbar area. Generally, it develops because of old age when the intervertebral disc of a person starts losing fluid. This affects disc height and cause degenerative changes. A person with this condition experiences pain in the lower back, numbness in his legs, inflammation, neurological issues, alerted sensation, sensitivity of nerves, etc. Apart from aging, other factors leading to lumbar spondylosis are smoking, overweight, excess physical movement, stress, injury, stiffness of ligament and sedentary lifestyle.

Kati Basti: In this type of treatment, the patient is treated by using medicated oil. This oil is retained on his lower back by constructing there a circular wall made of black gram dough. The treatment lubricates the patient’s degenerated disc and brings him great relief in chronic lower back pain, inflammation and stiffness in the lower back region. It is very effective in degenerative issues, restoring flexibility and strengthening lower back, nerves and muscles.

Abhyanga: This treatment consists of full body massage, which is done using warm oil. It pacifies Vata and Pitta disorders, strengthens muscles, boosts blood circulation. The powerful massage increases lubrication in all joints and tissues.

Swedana: In this soothing ayurvedic detox therapy, the patient is given a steam bath which contains medicated and herbal decoctions.
