Shirodhara is made of two Sanskrit words – Shiro (Head) and Dhara (Flow). In this traditional ayurvedic healing technique, usually different types of medicated oils made with various herbs are used. A particular herbal oil is continuously poured on the forehead of the patient. However, milk, buttermilk or water is also used in this classical ayurvedic therapy depending on the diagnosed condition or dosha imbalance of the patient. The whole process eventually brings a soothing sensation to the patient’s mind and body.
